Dr Chris Vernon
Program Director, Processing, CSIRO Mineral Resources
Chris has accumulated over 30 years of experience in mineral processing through various roles in industry and in CSIRO. He is presently Program Director for CSIRO’s mineral processing program, which spans pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, process and fluids engineering. The program is charged with creating positive impact for the industry in Australia, and this is achieved by working closely with customers to apply deep scientific understanding to process problems. Although the program has historically excelled in delivering greater efficiencies and new process technologies to the iron ore, alumina, nickel/cobalt, gold, uranium and rare earth industries, it is currently heavily invested in the growing lithium and battery materials market, in recent years assisting a number of Australian battery metals companies to achieve process goals.
